Niki Agnantis has a PhD from the Athens University. Since 1991 has been the Director of Pathology Dept. at the Ioannina University Hospital. Her interest in research of carcinogenesis in various organs including breast and the role of oncoproteins in the development of the malignant phenotypes has been translated into more than 933 citations in 182 works published in peer-reviewed international Journals and has presented multiple invited lectures in international meetings. She is Member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer in 21 Journals. She has received multiple Diplomas, Honors and Awards with the most recent the UNESCO Praise of the Programme, Women in Science (Paris 2000).

Dr. Angelos M. Kappas graduated from the Athens University School of Medicine and received his Ph.D thesis at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki where he worked for 10 years. He also worked for more than 2 years in Birmingham (U.K.) and since 1981 he moved to the Ioannina University School of Medicine, where he became professor and chairman of Surgery in 1996. His research has been focused on gastric cancer and colorectal cancer. Prof. Kappas has presented or published 200 works in peer- reviewed Journals. He is founder and active member in many International Societies and a public welfare Institution.

Born in Volos, Greece, in 1938. He studied Medicine at the University of Athens and specialized in Internal Medicine, Microbiology, Public Health and Epidemiology at the Universities of Athens, London, Harvard, and Oxford. He has served as Professor and Director of the Department of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the University of Athens Medical School since 1972, as Chairman of the Department of Epidemiology, Harvard School of Public Health (1989-96), and as Director of the Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention (1993-97). After graduating as a Civil Engineer, Professor Massalas continued his education with a Diploma degree in Mathematics (M.Sc., Ph.D., Habilitation in Mechanics). During his education he obtained scholarships from The Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, Fullbrigt Foundation and Unesco. He worked as Professor at the Department of Mathematics until 2000, is now Professor of Mechanics of Materials at the Department of Materials Science and has worked as Visiting Professor at the Trinity College (1989-1990). He is A Vice-director of the Institute B.R.I. and is a member of the scientific committee of “Onassis Foundation Science Lectures”. He is the author of several books, monographs and more than 100 original research papers. His administrative course started in 1992 as Chairman of Department of Mathematics and was followed as Vice-Rector (1994-1997) at the University of Ioannina where he today is the present Rector (1997-2003) and the following three years’ (2003-2006) Vice-Rector of the University as well as the President of the Northwestern Macedonian University.

He received his Diploma Degree from the National Technical University of Athens and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He worked as Visiting Researcher in MIT, USA, (1990-91) and RWTH, Germany (1992) and as director of EGNATIA EPIRUS Foundation (1993-1995). He is currently Associate Professor at the Dept. of Computer Science of the University of Ioannina (since 1996). He is the Director of the Unit of Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems and his major research interests include computational medicine, biomedical engineering and high – performance computing. He is the author of twelve books and more than one hundred and seventy papers in scientific journals and international conference proceedings. He coordinates the information technologies center of the University of Ioannina as well as the Science and Technology Park of Epirus. He is also the director of the wireless ATM network Epirus – Net which provides telemedicine and teleworking services in the Region of Epirus.

Marc Arbyn obtained his MD diploma in 1984 at the University of Ghent; he obtained diplomas of MD in tropical medicine and an MSc degree in tropical epidemiology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. After a career of 10 years in Africa with Médecins Sans Frontières, he got involved in cancer research in Europe. Marc Arbyn is currently Coordinator for the Evaluation of New Screening Methods in the framework of the European Network of Cervical Cancer Screening. Since 1995, Dr. Arbyn coordinates the Unit of Cancer Screening within the Scientific Institute for Public Health in Brussels. Since 2001, he was appointed to lead the evaluation of organized breast cancer screening in Belgium. One of his main activities deals with systematic review and meta-analysis regarding screening or diagnostic methods. Another point of his interests consists in trend and spatial analysis of cancer incidence and mortality.

Matthias Ebert graduated from the University of Ulm in 1995 and worked as a post-doctorate researcher in the Molecular Endocrinology Laboratory of Prof. Murray Korc at the University of Irvine (California, Irvine). After moving back to Germany he joined Prof. Malfertheiner at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectious Diseases (University of Magdeburg) and established a research group focussing on the molecular biology of gastric cancer. He published more than 50 articles on this and other related topics. He is member of several German and US gastroenterological and cancer associations and also serves as Assistant Editor of another GI journal. His main research interests are the molecular biology and pathogenesis of gastric cancer, including proteome analysis, molecular biology and clinical management of GI cancer patients.

Joshua Fogel has a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from Yeshiva University (USA), completed his Clinical Psychology internship at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre (Canada), and fellowship in Psychiatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University (USA). He is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York ( USA ). He is a journal editor-in-chief and has published or accepted for publication over 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His breast cancer research focuses on the psychological aspects of Internet use. He also studies a variety of behavioral medicine topics and also the cultural aspects of individuals with medical and/or psychiatric illnesses.

Dr. Nicholas Pavlidis is Professor of Medical Oncology in the University of Ioannina, in Greece. He studied Medicine at the University of Athens. He was trained in Internal Medicine in a University Department in Athens. He did his bench research in the field of tumor immunology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, USA. His clinical training in Medical Oncology was done at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, U.K. He was secretary in the Early Clinical Trials Group of EORTC and is still an active member. He was chairman of European School of Oncology Office for the Balkans and Middle East and is still an active member of the ESO Program Committee. He is also member of the ESMO Education Committee and of the ESMO Guidelines Task Force. He is Member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer in 6 International Journals. He has approximately 200 publications in peer-reviewed International Journals and around 2000 citations.
