Gastric cancer perspectives: Laparoscopic surgery and systems approach polypharmacology.

With standardization of D2 surgery and systemic treatment with chemotherapy and targeted therapy with trastuzumab for HER2 (Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2)-positive gastric cancer, there is an end of this conventional medicine era. Now, two new scientific directions are being shaped: laparoscopic surgery for improving quality-of-life and systems pharmacology based on genome integrative analysis. Challenges and potential of this genomic medicine are discussed.
